YAF routinely partners with other organizations in the Conservative Movement to defend free speech. In 2021, YAF helped persuade friendly members of the U.S. Congress to establish “Free Speech Caucuses” in both the House and Senate to help battle against the rampant leftist indoctrination that is so pervasive on campus today. YAF also contributes to important initiatives with our many conservative allies, including legal briefs and key letters to lawmakers advocating in favor of policies that support the First Amendment and in opposition to radical schemes that would limit free speech. The Academic Freedom Alliance (AFA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to uphold the principles of academic freedom for faculty members at colleges and universities in the United States. The AFA, in appropriate circumstances, provides aid for legal support to members whose constitutional, statutory, contractual, or other legally protected rights relating to academic freedom have been violated or are under threat. ACTA provides college and university stakeholders with the tools they need to address topics such as curricular standards and academic rigor, the academic freedom of faculty and students, cost-effectiveness and allocation of resources, responsible governance, and how attentive institutions are to the needs of their students. Our team of professional journalists works alongside student activists and student journalists to report on the conduct and misconduct of campus administrators, faculty, and students. Campus Reform holds itself to rigorous journalism standards and strives to present each story with accuracy, objectivity, and public accountability. The Fire
The FIRE Student Network is a coalition of students who recognize the importance of advancing civil liberties on their campuses. Signing up is free! Join the FIRE student network here. FIRE rates the policies that regulate student expression at over 486 colleges and universities. Schools are rated annually as “green light,” “yellow light,” or “red light” institutions based on the extent to which they restrict free speech. Find your school here. FIRE offers legal services for students. Student journalists and professors may submit complaints of violations of their rights to FIRE here.
The Goldwater Institute
The Goldwater Institute’s purpose is to restore free speech on college campuses. It proposes legislation to accomplish this goal. “While the U.S. Constitution may say we have the right to speak freely, colleges are limiting expression on their campuses. State lawmakers should use our proposal to re-establish the primacy of ideas and free expression at public colleges and universities.” In 2017, the Goldwater Institute introduced a model bill designed to ensure free expression within America’s public university systems. We fully fund speaker travel and fees and provide marketing support for your event as well.

- Finds ways to acquaint students with ideas that are dismissed or marginalized on campuses today;
- Be a watchdog for legislative and administrative governance.
